You are invited to attend the next general meeting presentation brought to you by the Structural Engineering Institute, Maryland Chapter. On Tuesday, January 17, Dr. Perry S. Green will present:
“Design of Lateral Load Resisting Frames Using Steel Joists and Joists Girders.”
Presenter’s Bio:
Dr. Green has a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Science and Doctorate in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University. Between his Master’s and Doctoral degrees he was a Structural Engineer and Engineering Manager for the A/E firm Burns & Roe, Inc., Oradell, NJ where he was involved with the design and construction of new nuclear power plants and the evaluation and modification of existing nuclear power plants. He is currently a Consultant for the steel industry and was formerly the Technical Director of the Steel Joist Institute from 2004 to 2010 and an Assistant Professor at the University of Florida, Gainesville, FL from 1998 to 2004.
While at Lehigh and afterwards at the University of Florida, he conducted research on the behavior of structural materials, members and systems for over 14 years. Dr. Green has been a member of the Structural Stability Research Council since 1994 and currently serves as a member of the SSRC Executive Committee. He is a member of the AISI Cold-Formed Steel Main Committee on Specifications, and Chair of Subcommittee 3 – Connections. He is also an Associate Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and Member of the ASCE Structural Members Committee.
